Sennen Cove in high winds
After the high winds this weekend, I was really hoping to capture some truly massive seas along the West Coast, especially at Botallack and Sennen Cove. Unfortunately, this wasn’t quite the case. While the sea was definitely a bit more angry and restless than usual, the huge swells I had been eagerly anticipating didn’t quite materialize. It was still an impressive sight, but not quite the dramatic waves I had hoped to photograph.
The harbour wall at Sennen Cove
Trying to find a new view.
I’ve photographed Sennen Cove in high seas many times, and it’s easy to get carried away just waiting patiently for the big wave to crash dramatically, often missing out on other shots. As the seas were a little calmer than I had expected on this occasion, I decided to explore some more interesting and unique viewpoints rather than sticking to the standard “wave crashing on harbour wall” shot. I’m not entirely sure I achieved that fresh perspective with this particular image, but I liked it all the same and felt it captured a more intimate perspective of a working harbour.
