Polly Joke Poppies

Between Holywell Bay and Crantock Beach on the North coast of Cornwall is West Pentire. A headland that is farmed as a nature reserve specifically for plants and wildlife associated with arable cultivation.

Looking across Crantock Bay and the River Gannel toward the Pentire Headland.

The fields here are split into two and ploughed one half with barley in the spring and the other half left fallow giving this area adistinctive look. Each year from May to July the fields explode into a sea of red poppies and are an increasingly popular place for holiday makers and locals alike to visit and walk the various paths around the headland.

Goose Rock in the distance.

There is a car park here and the areas is easily accessed by foot.
